There are actually no data recorded as to any adverse Noni juice side effects to the consumers. In the absence of side effects as documented by official government agencies, we report here the side effects that we gathered from personal user feedback or comments from Noni juice drinkers.

Noni juice side effects may be due to the intolerance of the body to the drink. There are no known causes, but we can draw some theories about the reasons why some consumers suffer from side effects while others do not.

A common reason for side effects is allergy. Some people may be allergic to the Noni fruit tree or Morinda citrifolia, in the same way others are allergic to flower pollens, ragweeds, and other allergens.

Many people especially those wanting to revert their poor health to a healthier one, may consume too much or overuse Noni juice than the recommended dosage. For best results, Noni consumers are allowed to drink not more than one oz per day.

There are cases of some drinkers who develop an intolerance to the fruit juice for reasons maybe that Noni fruit has an unpleasant taste and odor. Tannins in ripened Noni  cause an unpleasant  taste and odor to the fruit. Thus, manufacturers have thought of removing the tannins to enhance the taste. Also, some Noni juice drinkers may ingest the herbal supplement on an empty stomach and may suffer from stomach ache or gas pain.

Just like synthetic medicines that can have adverse side effects on one’s kidneys and liver, the side effects are very limited in comparison of the therapeutic claims that Noni juice has.

Some of the recorded side effects of using Noni include indigestion; allergic reactions including rashes, swelling, and difficulty swallowing; diarrhea; and constipation. Still others have reported severe side effects of Noni including cough, gas, bad breath, heavy periods in women, headaches, joint aches, tiredness, pimples and boils.

Here are some helpful tips to avoid any side effects when taking Noni fruit juice products:

  • Take only as directed. One ounce daily is the recommended dosage of Noni fruit juice. Small quantities of Noni drink will be safe. Taking too much amount may be harmful.
  • Drink plenty of water. Lemon can also be combined with water for cleansing.
  • Noni is a laxative for some drinkers but there are also some who will experience
    indigestion and bloating.
  • Consult with your physician before using Noni exclusively for health benefits. For example, patients with diabetes are required care when drinking Noni juice because the Noni fruit can increase the glucose levels of the patients.
  • Pregnant or nursing women are not supposed to drink Noni fruit juice for whatever purpose. This is because of  insufficient evidence that it is safe during pregnancy or for infants.
  • Do not use Noni fruit juice with potassium-sparing drugs. The herb itself has  potassium. During diagnostic tests, urine may be discolored if you are drinking Noni It may increase the risk of hyperkalemia, a condition where  higher-than-normal levels of potassium in the blood.  Patients with kidney problems can have increased potassium levels in the body.

As a rule, when using herbal supplement, take only the recommended dosage to avoid these reported side effects. There is no shortcut to a healthy life. Everything good and healthy comes with discipline and commitment.
